At a Glance: Established in 1807, Wilmot is a small, picturesque village, just a few minutes from New London. Population: 1,021.
Overview: Park your car and stroll through the streets to the village center, admiring the attractive homes and historic buildings, complete with Town Hall and Grange, public library and church with horse and buggy stalls.
The village boasts some lovely inns and bed & breakfasts. It is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to New London, but prefer the charm of a small, quiet place.
Just four miles north of Wilmot Center on Route 4A is the Gardner Memorial Wayside area, a great picnic spot where you can enjoy the scenic brook and stone foundations of an 1880's mill.
